Understanding the Date of Manufacturing (DOM)Updated 13 days ago
The Date of Manufacturing (DOM) is a marking on Tupperware products that indicates when they were made. This information is required when submitting a warranty claim. Here’s what you need to know:
What is the DOM?
DOM stands for Date of Manufacturing (D = Date, O = Of, M = Manufacturing). It’s a small insert molded into the product, typically found on the reverse side (opposite the main display surface), near the mold number and cavity number.
When was it implemented?
The DOM marking has been included on Tupperware products since 2004, and as of 2013, all products feature this marking.
Types of DOM Markings:
- Type 1 (Pre-2022):
Uses alphabetical characters to represent the production year. Each digit from 0 to 9 corresponds to a specific letter. For example, a letter indicates the decade, and another letter represents the specific year within that decade. - Type 2 (2022 and later):
Uses numerical values to directly indicate the year of manufacture, making it easier to read.
Examples:
- Type 1 Example:
A product marked with letters like “B” or “C” indicates the year within a specific decade (refer to your product’s documentation for the exact letter-to-year mapping).

- Type 2 Example:
A product marked “2023” directly shows it was manufactured in 2023.
Why is the DOM important?
You’ll need to provide the DOM when submitting a warranty claim, along with proof of purchase and photos or video of the defect.
